MEET MARIAH
Founder and creator of Lil Sista Gurls LLC
Mariah Davis is an independent fine artist, animator, and graphic designer. Her design work focuses on black culture with an emphasis on uplifting women and young girls of color. In 2018 Mariah moved to Houston, Texas from a promotion from her former employer, and soon realized that after 10 years, her creative gift needed to be used for a more fulfilling purpose. After her realization, she began her venture in pursuing her purpose through her art. Her vision of changing the narrative of black women through her art became one part of her mission. She has been a featured artist in the Reverie Art Show, sponsored by The Peace of Mind Foundation, where she donated art to help support the cause for mental health. Mariah has also partnered with the Houston area Delta Sigma Theta chapter, where she performed a live painting for their annual holiday party, and has partnered with the Brunch Beauty Empowerment Network for a Live art and auction.
Unfortunately, Covid took a hit on the future partnerships planned that year which led Mariah to utilize her digital art skills. With the passion to still uplift and inspire, in 2020, Lil Sista Gurls was created to help continue her mission to uplift and teach young girls of color to love the skin their in. She created and published multiple coloring books and recently published her first children’s book that celebrates the loc hair journey! She has also created a line of journals, uplifting t-shirts, and home decor, and has future plans of creating early learning materials for the youth. This is only the beginning! She is excited for future partnerships with school programs and striving to continue to make an impact for our youth.
